Our team of education consultants and advisors consist of graduates of Ivy League, highly selective  and competitive colleges and universities and have experience in problem-solving, and practical knowledge of trends, patterns and data in the ever-changing college admissions process, education and career industry.

Paul Reginald Lowe, Sr.

Paul Reginald Lowe, Sr. is the President and Founder of BHA Education Consultants.

He travels extensively to speak with parents, students, guidance counselors and admission professionals regarding the continuously changing national trends in college and graduate school admissions.  He meets with university and senior-level college administrators, deans and directors of various departments to discuss educational policy in their schools.

Dr. Lowe conducts college admissions workshops and seminars throughout the tri-state area and was a presenter at the Summer@Brown Pre-College Program, the Conference on Higher Education, and the Ivy League Forum.  He has led panel discussions and staff developments for college as well as guidance counselors.

Dr. Lowe served on the Brown University Alumni Schools Committee as an Interviewer and Fairfield County Area Chair for such schools as Brunswick School, Staples High School, Greens Farms Academy, Greenwich High School, Greenwich Academy, King School, Trumbull High School, Fairfield College Preparatory School, Weston High School, Hotchkiss School, Darien High School, Loomis Chaffee, Joel Barlow High School, Choate Rosemary Hall and Hopkins School.

Dr. Lowe also serves as college and graduate school admissions and career adviser to several alumni schools committees and alumni associations.

He is the editor and publisher of Getting In!TM, a quarterly newsletter for parents and students interested in the competitive admissions process and trends.  Dr. Lowe has represented students who have attended independent and public high schools, community and  colleges, and homeschoolers in the tri-state area as well as students who have attended independent high schools abroad.  He works closely with U.S. and international families engaged in the challenging, anxiety-ridden and stressful college admissions process.

Dr. Lowe received a B.A. in Biology from Brown University, a M.D. from Boston University School of Medicine, a Certificate in Advanced Management Studies from Yale School of Management, and a Certificate from Harvard Summer Institute on College Admissions.  He also attended Harvard Institute for Higher Education's Professional Development Programs.  Dr. Lowe is a former Treasurer of the Brown University Alumni Association, former board member of the Brown University Club of Fairfield County, is a member of the Leadership Development Team of the Brown University Club of Greater New Haven, is the former National Multicultural Chair of the Brown Alumni Schools Committee, and is the co-developer of the Talent Quest Program.   He is a member of the Connecticut Association of Education Consultants, the Higher Education Consultants Association, the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling, the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling, the Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling, the Association for the Advancement of International Education, and the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletes.

Dr. Lowe is a frequent guest on "Education Notebook" with Eric Greene and "Our Lives" with Gwen Edwards on News 12 Connecticut, "21st Century Conversations" with N'Zinga Shani on Cablevision, Comcast, Telemedia, and the Educational Access Channel.


Kathy Adams

Kathy Adams is the Education Project Coordinator at BHA Education Consultants.

She operated a tutoring and study skills company prior to joining BHA, tutored privately in all academic subjects and helped high school and college students prepare their applications and essays.

Ms. Adams attends national and regional conferences regularly and frequently visits college campuses, maintaining relationships with admissions and college program directors.  She is a contributing writer for Getting In!TM

Ms. Adams earned a B.A. in both History and English from Harvard University.  She is a member of the Connecticut Association of Education Consultants, the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling, and the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling.


Cynthia Yu

Cynthia Yu serves as an Education Team Coordinator at BHA Education Consultants.

She began her career in education as an English teacher in public secondary schools in New York, and has taught in several independent secondary schools.  As a Secondary School Staff Developer on Educational Leadership: Student Learning and Achievement, Dr. Yu has worked collaboratively with high school teachers, guidance/college counselors, school administrators, and parents in both secondary public and private schools.

Dr. Yu primarily assists international students and their families in the college admissions process; and serves as a consultant to several foreign secondary schools with regard to developing their college counseling programs.  She is also a contributing writer for Getting In!

Dr. Yu earned a B.A. in English from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.  She is a member of the Connecticut Association of Education Consultants, the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling, the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling, the Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling, and the Association for the Advancement of International Education.


Fred Wheeler

Fred Wheeler serves as Executive Education Consultant at BHA Education Consultants.

Mr. Wheeler has over 25 years experience in sales and marketing.  He has served in senior management capacities at General Electric's world headquarters in its finance and marketing divisions, and served as a manager for a marketing firm.

Mr. Wheeler's expertise lies primarily in assisting college students in the graduate school admissions process; and college students and graduate students in resume development/job search coaching.

Mr. Wheeler earned a B.A. in both Mathematics and Psychology from Columbia University and a M.B.A. in Marketing and Human Resources from Harvard Business School.  He is a member of the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling.


Nadine Cartwright-Lowe

Nadine Cartwright-Lowe is the Medical Education Consultant at BHA Education Consultants.

She primarily assists college students who are interested in applying to medical schools and medical students applying to residency programs.

Dr. Cartwright-Lowe participated in medical research in biomechanics and orthopedics for Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and completed specialty training in internal medicine at St. Vincent's Medical Center/Yale University School of Medicine.

She is an internist, health educator/consultant, an executive & personal-life coach, and served as a board member of the Brown Medical Alumni Association.

Dr. Cartwright-Lowe received a B.A. in Biology from Brown University and a M.D. from Brown Medical School.  She is a member of the Connecticut Association of Education Consultants, the Higher Education Consultants Association, the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling, and the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling.


Veronica Lowe

Veronica Lowe is the Ivy League Student-Liaison Coordinator at BHA Education Consultants.

She supervises the efforts of regional BHA Education student-liaisons at Ivy League colleges and universities. 

She is both a scholar-athlete and artist scholar.  She has won numerous awards and medals in judo such as the Gold Medal in the Nutmeg State Games and Connecticut Junior Judo Olympics, has authored two literary works in poetry, and is a renown jazz violinist, who has written and produced two CDs.

Ms. Lowe is currently a junior at Brown University, majoring in both Archaeology and the Ancient World, and History of Art and Architecture.  She is a member of the literary coed Greek organization, Delta Psi and a member of the Brown University Cheerleading Team.  She is also a member of the Connecticut Association of Education Consultants, the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling, the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling, and the Association for the Advancement of International Education.


Paul Reginald Lowe, Jr.

Paul Reginald Lowe, Jr. is the Coordinator of the Artist-Scholar Music Program.

As the Coordinator of Artist-Scholar Music Program, Mr. Lowe understands how to showcase the academic as well as musical talents, achievements and aspirations of students so that they can gain a competitive edge in the selective college application process.  

Mr. Lowe is both a scholar-athlete and artist scholar.  He has won numerous awards and medals in judo such as the Gold Medal in the Nutmeg State Games and Connecticut Junior Judo Olympics, and is a renown multi-instrumentalist with a focus on soprano saxophone.

Mr. Lowe is currently on leave from Brown University, developing a plethora of music projects, including film music, artist management/careerdevelopment and musical performances.  He is a Music major with a minor in Modern Culture and Media.  Mr. Lowe has co-produced and released several albums. He is also a member of the Connecticut Association of Education Consultants, the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling, the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling, and the Association for the Advancement of International Education.


Anthony Canchola

Anthony Canchola is a Senior Education Advisor to BHA Education Consultants.

He is president of PreCollege Counseling Services, an independent college consultant firm.

Mr. Canchola has more than 20 years experience in higher education in admissions and is the former senior associate director of admissions and director of financial aid at Brown University, the former assistant dean for student affairs at MIT, former associate director of admissions at Northeastern University School of Law, and the former assistant to the director of admissions at the University of Illinois.

Mr. Canchola is a contributing author to several publications including: "50 College Admission Directors Speak to Parents" and "Target Hispanic Students: A Growing Potential College Market".  He has earned awards for "Outstanding Dedication & Support to Undergraduate" at Brown University, MIT and the University of Illinois. 

Mr. Canchola is a member of the National Association of College Admission Counseling, the Association of Black Admission and Financial Aid Officers of the Ivy League & Sister Schools, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, the Northeast Association Association of Pre-Law Advisors, the National Action Council on Minorities in Engineering, and selection committee member of the Sponsored Scholarship Programs-Educational Testing Services, the LEAD Program in Business, and The College Board-National Hispanic Scholarship Program.

Mr. Canchola earned a BA in Art and Design from Saint Louis University, M.Ed. in Bilingual-Bicultural Education from the University of Illinois and an Ed.M. from Harvard University Graduate School of Education in Administration, Planning and Social Policy.


Pedro Noguera

Pedro Noguera is an Education Advisor to BHA Education Consultants.

He is a professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning and the Department of Social Science and Humanities in the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University; and also the Executive Director to the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education at the Steinhardt School of Education.

As an urban sociologist, Dr. Noguera's scholarship and research focuses on the ways in which schools are influenced by social and economic conditions in the urban environment.  He has served as an advisor and engaged in collaborative research with several large school districts throughout the United States. 

He served as the Judith K. Dimon Professor of Communities and Schools at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and was a Professor in Social and Cultural Studies at the Graduate School of Education and Director of the Study of Social Change at the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Noguera has received numerous education honors and awards including the Presidential School Improvement Award, the U.S. Department of Education Fulbright-Hayes Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, Faculty Speaker: Commencement Address-Harvard Graduate School of Education, the Eisenhower Mathematics, Engineering and Science Award, and the Centennial Medal for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Education-Philadelphia University.  He has authored several books and articles on educational leadership, institutions and policy.

Dr. Noguera received  both B.A. and a M.A. in Sociology from Brown University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley.


Hannelore Rodriguez-Farrar

Hannalore Rodriguez-Farrar is an Education Advisor to BHA Education Consultants.

As the Assistant Director for Education at Brown University's Harriet W. Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning, she developed programs addressing the University teaching needs and advised graduate students and faculty on effective teaching and teaching skills.  She also co-authored several teaching publications.

Ms. Rodriguez-Farrar was an external consultant to the Association of American Museum Directors where she developed staff and ethics policies.  She was an adjunct faculty of the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College where she developed, planned and taught courses in art appreciation, Renaissance art and Baroque art.

Ms. Rodriguez Farrar is the President of the Brown University Alumni Association (BAA) and served as National Co-Chair on the National Board of Governors, BAA.

She was a Research Associate at Harvard Business School's Technology and Operations Management & Marketing Units, and co-author of numerous Harvard Business School Case Studies and Teaching Notes.

Ms. Rodriguez-Farrar has received numerous education honors and awards including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching-Brown University, and the Samuel Milton Nabrit Fellowship.

Ms. Farrar received a B.A., M.A.and A.B.D. in History of Art and Architecture from Brown.  She is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program at Harvard Graduate School of Education.


Todd Heglund

Todd Heglund is a Strategic Advisor to BHA Education Consultants.

Mr. Heglund was a versatile scholar-athlete who played varsity football and competed in throwing events on the track and field team at Brown University.  Mr. Heglund worked at Greenwich Associates, a strategic consulting firm, as a senior research associate in its middle market banking group, where he advised large commercial banks on market strategy and competitive positioning. 

After Greenwich Associates, Mr. Heglund spent five years working at General Atlantic (GA), a global private equity firm focused exclusively on information technology, as a senior research analyst.  At GA, he focused on a broad range on industries within technology and services, including; healthcare, business process outsourcing, human resources, logistics, enterprise security and consumer media.  Mr. Heglund worked with both public and private portfolio companies worldwide to support them in business development, strategic planning and merger and acquisitions initiatives. 

Mr. Heglund received a B.A.in both Business Economics and Organizational Behavior and Management from Brown University.   He is currently pursuing an MBA, specializing in corporate finance and law & business, at New York University's Leonard Stern School of Business.


Ira Goldstein

Ira Goldstein is a Business Development Advisor to BHA Education Consultants.

Mr. Goldstein is currently a consultant to private-equity as well as hedge fund organizations and merger and acquisitions firms.  He also serves as a development advisor for various college and university fundraising, research and development efforts. 

Mr. Goldstein served as Vice President at FleetBoston Financial's Small Business Services Division where he was involved in providing financing for small and medium size businesses.  His expertise lies in business development, finance, merger and aquisitions, corporate governance.  

Mr. Goldstein earned a BS in Engineering Physics from Cornell University, a MBA in Finance from Yale University School of Management, and a JD from Columbia Law School.


Stephen Robertson

Stephen Robertson is a Business Education Advisor to BHA Education Consiltants. 

Mr. Robertson currently owns and manages various entrepreneurial ventures.  His diverse array of businesses includes management and marketing consulting, real estate investing and development, printing and imaging production and business investing and management.  Mr. Robertson's profound belief in the benefits and satisfaction of entrepreneurial pursuits and passions has been fostered by over 20 years of experience in the corporate sector. 

Mr. Robertson was a bank officer in consumer and commercial lending, specializing in community development and real estate lending at Continental Bank and CoreStates Bank; a small business development consultant for The Small Business Development Center at Howard University; an information technology consultant for Andersen Consulting; and a board member of several housing and community development associations.

Even with Mr. Robertson's focus on business ownership and entrepreneurial endeavors, his passion has and remains in education and career mentoring.  While at business school, Mr. Robertson was a counselor at Columbia University's LEAD Program; advising college bound high school students.  Throughout his professional career, he has volunteered his time tutoring elementary, middle and high school students and has helped designed and served on the board of North Star Academy, a Philadelphia-based charter school.  Additionally, Mr. Robertson has developed training programs for college-level internships and assisted college students in career decision-making.  Mr. Robertson has also actively interviewed students as a member of the Brown University Alumni Schools Committee and has worked with several groups over the years that provided guidance, support and instruction on implementing best practices to excel in secondary schooling, college and beyond.

Mr. Robertson earned a B.A. in Economics from Brown University and a MBA from Howard University School of Business.


Lynda Bigler

Lynda Bigler is a Senior Education Advisor to BHA Education Consultants.

Mrs. Bigler has diverse experience in the banking industry and has worked at Banker's Trust Company - Pension & Investments, Chemical Bank - Endowment Funds and Pension Trust, Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank - Profit Sharing Operations, Pittsburgh National Bank - Systems Operations, and Mellon Bank - Employee Benefit Services.

She has been actively involved as a volunteer-leader in many religious and community service organizations including the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Lake Oswego United Church of Christ, as an intern at Shalom UCC, the First Congregational Church of Cheshire and Ainsworth UCC; and the Girl Scouts USA and Boy Scouts of America.

Mrs. Bigler is a former Worldwide Chair of the Brown Alumni Schools Committee, where she managed and supervised over 5,000 alumni volunteers and was involved in volunteer recruitment and training, strategic planning/implementation and budget management.  She is the creator of the Talent Quest Program and a former member of the Brown University Alumni Association Board of Governors.  Mrs. Bigler is a member of the American Association of University Women, the Society of Children's Writers and Illustrators and the Interfaith Council of Greater Portland.

Mrs. Bigler earned a BA in French Studies from Brown University and a MDiv from Yale Divinity School.
